Empire, the hit new show on Fox, seems to be taking everyone by storm these days. It has become a cultural phenomenon and has shed a light on how money changes people and the importance of family.

Empire is not about the lives of an average Black family though; it is about a family that lives through music and power. One thing that we don’t get much of on television is the idea of Black people being on top. The Lyons family has it all – in terms of money, fame, and respect.
